New Study Tool

Have you ever wanted your students to have fun WHILE learning or studying?? Well, Blooket brings this vision to life. You can create your own "blookets" about any topic you want. Maybe you don't have time to create your own? No problem, you can search through thousands of other Blookets that other educators have made! Just simply search for the topic you are looking for. When you do have time to create your own game, you can play the game with your students for years to come! When you choose your topic, you can next choose the mode for the game. My students love the crypto mode. In this mode, they can hack their friends' passwords, earn money, and race the countdown. No matter the mode, students answers tons of questions, practicing or learning  about the chosen topic! Students can create their own free account and collect "blooks." This might not sound interesting to us teachers; however, students will become OBSESSED with collecting blooks! If you are like me and enjoy playing games with the students, I have a tip for you. Join the game on a separate computer, choose an alias, and secretly play along! Students will be shocked to learn that you were playing against them the whole time!

Breaking News!

Our middle school is receiving a state-of-the-art computer lab with tons of supplies very soon! Why do we need a computer lab? It is unreasonable to expect every teacher to supply their own technology for their classrooms. Technology is such an important component of the teaching process because it has been linked to higher student academic achievement (Bixler, 2019)! For this reason, we have been advocating for a space that teachers can use to incorporate technology into their lessons without paying out of pocket for their own supplies. This is a project that the entire school can benefit from!
This new lab will house six new roomy tables where students can collaborate while learning. There will be iPads and tablets for students to use while in the lab. When teachers are ready, they can " step up their game" by incorporating 3D printing into lessons and even design elements with the Cricut! Students can learn coding and robotics in the lab as well. The room will also host a green screen area for teachers and students to utilize their creativity while learning. These technology devices will increase students learning and interest (Ayob et al., 2020). We are excited for you to see this project in action! Stay tuned for videos and photographs of our students and teachers engaging in an exciting learning environment!

Welcome!

I am excited that you are joining me on the Teaching with Technology journey!
